Electronics Diagonal Cutter With box joint | 77 41 115

In spring 2024, KNIPEX improved and completed its family of electronics pliers.

Thanks to optimised manufacturing processes, all series 62, 64 and 77 cutting pliers are now particularly robust, with a load-optimised design, box joint and component-friendly mirror polish.

Cutting pliers must fulfil very specific tasks when working on electronic components: among other things, they must be able to work on fine structures without damaging electronic components. The electronics cutting pliers with box joint from KNIPEX are designed precisely for this purpose: with optimum accessibility and handle sleeves raised towards the pliers head for precision, comfortable cutting even in the "tweezer grip", i.e. between thumb and index finger. A low-friction double spring provides support for repetitive cuts, ensuring smooth and even opening. All the edges on the outside of the pliers heads are carefully rounded off; apart from the cutting edges, of course, there are therefore no sharp edges that could damage the material. Incidentally, all electronic cutting pliers with a box joint have one more thing in common: the surface of their pliers heads is mirror-polished, i.e. deliberately not chrome-plated: even after years of intensive work, this ensures that no chrome parts flake off the gripping pliers, causing faults in circuits.

ESD pliers have a special status.

They offer additional protection thanks to their electrically dissipative handles: they gently dissipate electrostatic potential differences between the user and the component. This means no damage from the tiny discharges that all too often destroy sensitive semiconductors when working with other pliers.

A few words about robustness: KNIPEX manufactures the body of the electronic cutting pliers from oil-hardened ball bearing chrome steel - for extensive longevity of the pliers! The cutting edges are also laser-hardened because they are always subject to particular stress. As a result, they achieve a hardness of approx. 62 HRC with high-frequency current. This means that, for example, the larger diagonal cutters with a length of 130 mm effortlessly cut soft wires up to 1.6 mm in diameter and even medium-hard wire up to at least 1.3 mm, and depending on the model even up to 1.5 mm in diameter!

    Especially slim head

Some variants of the diagonal cutters for electronics have been significantly revised and now have a slimmer head than their predecessor model or even many comparably sized cutting pliers. This ensures optimum accessibility, even between electronic components on a printed circuit board, for example.

Cut fine wires and cables with precision

All diagonal cutters for electronics from KNIPEX have a very small bevel (model series 02 to 32) or none at all (model series 42 and 82). As a result, the former separate protruding wires very close to the surface and the latter cut practically flush with the surface.
